F1RST is a virtual platform designed to connect consumers and businesses across the Caribbean. Through user-friendly technology in the form of a website (www.F1RST.com) and mobile applications (available for – iOS, Android and Blackberry), F1RST is on a quest to bring the Caribbean online.
Through F1RST, users will be able to:
Search through a constantly growing and detailed database of businesses (like a restaurant or boutique) and places (like a church or school) to find exactly what they’re looking for.
Dining – A new restaurant serving their preferred dish for lunch
Shopping – A boutique with customer parking
Sports – A sporting goods store that accepts credit cards
Health – The closest pharmacy in an unfamiliar area
Entertainment – The closest movie theatre, nightclub or local bar

Connect with their favourite businesses by following them or by learning about others’ experiences with these companies through reviews and ratings. Users can also connect with other users by adding them as friends and staying in the loop with all of their activities.
Share experiences with the F1RST network by posting their own photos and reviews, as well as rating products and services. This process allows users to assist each other in the decision making process.

What can I review on F1RST?
You can review a place, business or service you have experienced first-hand. Anything with a physical location. For example:
Your favourite watering-hole or restaurant
A new lunch spot you’ve tried out and really like, including street vendors and food courts
A local landmark and its amenities
You can also review services provided by professionals, who have contact numbers but may or may not have offices, such as:
A tradesman who has done quality work for you
An insurance agent you want to recommend
An interior decorator who does fabulous work within your budget
Are there things I should not review?
Things that don’t have a physical presence in the real world (that means no website, no film or TV programmes). Please only leave reviews of places and services that you have personally experienced - F1RST is about your opinion, not your grandmother’s (although we encourage her to write her own too).
How do I submit a review?
On every business profile page you will see a “Write Review” link at the top of the page. Select this option and you will be directed to where you can type in your review. Once you’re happy with your review (and you’ve awarded a star rating and included a few tags) click the “Write Review” button and voilà! Your review will be posted on the site.
Can I write more than one review about the same place?
Sure, but we do ask that you limit your contributions to one review per visit. If a group of you have visited a business, each of you can submit a review.
Can I still post a review if it’s not positive?
Of course! We encourage you to post about the experience you had, and we’re well aware that it may not always be positive. This is the only way for other consumers to know what they’re potentially facing...and it’s a great way for businesses to determine how they can improve their products and services.
What if I get a message that my location cannot be found?
In rare cases, F1RST may not pinpoint the geographical location you’ve entered. Don’t give up, send us a quick note at feedback@F1RST.com. And we will do the legwork for you
How do I find a Place to review?
At the top of every page you’ll find the F1RST search tool. To find the place you’re looking for, type the name of the place in the left field and the location (town or city works best) into the right side of the tool. Click “Search” and F1RST will search for the place in the database. If it’s not found, you can add the place yourself.
A few tips: Use the “Search” fields to look for
Names of businesses or places, for example, "Jones", "Lee”, “Chaguaramas”
Business or place descriptions, for example, "electrician", "nightclub", “marina”
Tags (keywords) such as "authentic", "central", "luxurious", "Chinese"
The Place I want to review is not listed. What should I do?
You can create a basic entry for a place, just follow the directions once you click the big green button at the bottom of the Search Results Page. Make a search, if you don’t see the results, simply click the Green Button at the bease of the page that say “Can’t find your business or venue? Click here to add.”
Then you can write your review and add your rating. There’s even a special badge available for when you write the 1st review on 10 places!
Someone has unfairly reviewed a place I am connected with. What should I do?
Evaluate the post. If you feel that a reviewer has a negative but valid perspective about your business, then we recommend that you give yourself a 'cooling down' period (say, 24 hours) before addressing his or her concerns. Businesses who address a customer's critique on F1RST are usually viewed positively as it shows you are not only open-minded, but proactive.
On the other hand, if you genuinely feel that you or your place of work has been unfairly depicted on F1RST then that’s against our Community Guidelines. You should use the ‘flag offensive content' button to let us know what has been said, giving us as much detail as possible.
We will investigate the issue to prevent abuse of both your business and our platform.
Can I still review something if I have a vested interest in it?
Sure. All we ask is that you write a fair and balanced review and that you clearly identify your connection to the business by claiming the business. You can find more information in our Community Guidelines
If you love a place simply click on "A favourite place". Your display photo will then appear on the place page. This means that any new review added on that place will be shown in your profile.
How can I recommend a place to my friends or the wider F1RST community?
On the profile of a page, you will see a “share” option. Click share to recommend places to your friends.
How do I add someone as a contact?
It’s really simple - just visit the person’s profile page and select “Add as a Friend”. Once the user accepts your invitation they will appear on your contact list and his or her actions will be added to your Activity Feed.
How do I delete a contact?
You can seamlessly delete contacts from your list by visiting their profile page and clicking “Unfriend”. They will not be informed of this action, but their information and activities will no longer be available to you and vice versa.
Who can view my activity?
Anyone who adds you as a contact will be able to see your activities on their Activity Feed. You have the option to choose which of your actions your contacts can see by editing your page.
Can I invite my friends to F1RST?
Absolutely! After all, your friends are the ones you trust most to give you great tips and recommendations on places to go and things to do. They’re also most likely to have similar interests or know things that would most interest you. You can invite your friends to F1RST from or (Insert instructions on how to do this from the app).
Is anyone allowed to view my location or can it be private?

What do I need to know about checking-in?
You should check in when you go to a place and spend some time there. We don't set limits on check-ins, but if our system thinks you're checking into too many places in a short amount of time, checking into places that are too far to reasonably travel between, or consistently checking into places that are far from where your device thinks you are, you won’t receive any award points, badges or mayorships for your check-in.
Some good rules of thumb: Only check into a place that you are actually at (and not places you're just walking by). Only check in or add places that other people would actually want to check into, for example: cafe, restaurant, bar, park, grocery store, office, the gym in your apartment building, your dry cleaner. Examples of venues that you should *not* check into (nor add to our database): your cubicle, your car, your bathroom, your friend's mom's house.

What is a badge?
Badges are emblems that appear on your profile when you perform various real-world actions and achieve certain virtual milestones using F1RST. They establish your credibility as a F1RST user and are also hella cool! ;)
How can I earn badges on my profile?
You can earn badges for your profile by fulfilling different tasks, like checking-in at places, writing reviews, posting photos and adding friends. The more active your profile, the more unique badges you’ll unlock!
How do I collect F1RST points?
F1RST rewards all members for participating in various activities online, from sharing businesses with friends to checking-in to locations across the region. Using F1RST is guaranteed to be a whole new experience.
What is a F1RST Ace?
This premium badge is given to the member who has amassed the most check-ins at a place in the past 60 days. Be sure to keep checking in, or risk losing it.
How do I link my F1RST account and my Facebook/Twitter accounts?
You can link your F1RST account with Facebook by using the blue Facebook connect button to login or sign up. Your other social network accounts can also be linked by going to your account settings.
How can I share my reviews on Facebook and Twitter?
Each time you write a review, there will be an option to share the review to Facebook or Twitter.
How do I disconnect my F1RST account from my Facebook account?
Simple, all you need to do is go to your Account Settings and click remove from Facebook.
Why is my profile picture just a basic Avatar?
When you join F1RST you're automatically assigned the default profile picture. To change it, go to the “My F1RST” page and click on the option at the bottom of your picture to upload a new image.
How do I add a photo to my Profile?
You can upload a profile photo from your My F1RST > Settings page. Simply browse to the location on the file on your computer and click the "Save" button.
How do I add my photos to a place?
On any place you’ll find an Upload Photo’ Tab on the main profile or on the “Photos” tab. Clicking on this will bring up a file browser window for you to select the photo(s) you’d like to upload. To upload a number of photos at once, simply select the files while holding down the Shift key on your keyboard.
What kind of photos can I upload?
Anything that isn't offensive or copyrighted
A place page photo should be related to that place, for example an image of the building or the product they offer
Group photos are, again, completely up to you, but they can be deleted by group administrators if deemed inappropriate
When I click on "Upload Photo" I'm told that I need to install Adobe Flash.
Our photo uploading tool uses Adobe Flash 8+, so you'll need to install it, or upgrade to the latest version. Click "Ok" on the prompt and you'll be taken to Adobe's Flash website, where you should be able to install the latest version of Flash by following the instructions.
When I click on Upload Photo, nothing happens.
Are you using Firefox? If so, there should be a yellow box along the top of the F1RST page asking whether you want to install missing plugins. Our photo uploading tool uses Adobe Flash, so you'll need to click the button to install the missing plugin.
Are you using Internet Explorer and just successfully installed Adobe Flash? If so, you'll need to refresh the F1RST page in order for it to recognise the Flash plugin.
How do I view another user’s photos?
Go to the user’s profile and underneath their profile picture you’ll find a ‘See all photos’ link which will take you to that user’s image gallery. You can also scroll the timeline dashboard of your friends to view their recent photos.
How do I report an inappropriate photo appearing on a business listing?
Flag the photo using the report feature and let us know why. We’ll assess the content and if it is indeed damaging or offensive, we will have it removed or changed.
Community Guidelines, Reporting Abuse Etc
When reviews, comments, talk or photos are reported for abuse, are they automatically deleted?
No. If a user flags or reports content to us then we will investigate to ensure the claim is valid. The content will only be removed if it's found to be in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms and Conditions.
Why was my review/comment/forum post/photo deleted?
At F1RST, we want you to enjoy the freedom to express yourself fully on your profile. However we have established community guidelines that are designed to maximum each user’s enjoyment of the app. If you fail to follow them, then the material will be removed. Depending on the nature and extent of the abuse, your account may be deleted. In this instance, you will receive email communication from F1RST notifying you of that the account has been terminated.
To avoid having any of your content removed please be sure to review the Review Guidelines.
What should I do if I find content that might be illegal or in violation of the guidelines set out by F1RST?
Beside every review, comment, photo or forum thread, there is an “Offensive Content?” link. Clicking on this will enable you to send us the exact details of the content so that we can investigate it as swiftly as possible. Any proven violation of the F1RST Community Guidelines or Terms and Conditions will then be removed from the site.
What do I need to create a F1RST profile?
All you really need is an active email address. Then, to sign up, you create a username, tell us where you live (you can be as detailed or as vague as you like), set your password, agree to the terms and conditions, and you're all set.
Is creating a F1RST profile really necessary for me to use the site?
Without a F1RST profile you can still browse the site, but you really unlock the full potential of the platform when you join the community. By creating a profile, you are giving yourself the opportunity to participate in the conversations, write your own reviews, rate other member’s reviews, start earning F1RST points and unlocking rewards, and build your list of contacts. Instead of simply seeing a list of visitors at a particular place, you can know if it’s exactly what you’re looking for based on peer reviews.
Can I change my username?
Once you’ve chosen your username it’s yours forever, so choose carefully. However, if you’d like to display your real name instead of a username then click through to the “My F1RST Privacy Settings” and under “When showing my name” choose ‘Display my first and last name’ from the dropdown menu.
Are there any restrictions on the characters I can use for my nickname?
Any combination of letters or numbers should be fine, however we ask that you refrain from inflammatory language or expletives. You should also note that spaces and special characters probably won’t work.
I've forgotten my password and/or login name – How can I retrieve this information?
No problem, we all forget things from time to time. All you have to do is click on the “Forgot Password” link, follow the instructions and a password reset email will be sent to your account.
How do I change my email address?
Also not a problem. Just visit your page and enter your new email address there.
How do I set up my email notifications?
Go to your “My Settings” page and click on the “Account” tab then select “Privacy”. Here you can specify whether or not you’d like to receive email notifications from us.
I don’t seem to be receiving my email alerts. Can this be solved?

Why do I need to verify my email address?
Verifying your email address ensures that your F1RST account is protected and it means that we can communicate with you if you're unable to log in to your account. It also allows us to alert you if we witness suspicious activity with your account, issue you a new password if the need arises, and it guarantees that your email address is valid and owned by you.
How do I cancel my membership?
If you wish to cancel your membership you can send an email with the subject "Cancel Membership" to . To ensure it is authorised, this email must be sent from the email address you originally used to register your account. We’ll then delete your profile.
We’ll be sad to see you go but please let us know why you are cancelling your membership so we can improve the F1RST experience and hopefully welcome you back to F1RST before long.
*Note that different levels of activity can be set on F1RST. If for instance you wish to unsubscribe from the newsletter and other messages, but retain your account, you can select this option on your Settings page.
